    “This is a short story of how Sterling Building and Design has impacted my life. In one of my lowest points after our home fire here in Castle Pines there was a bright moment. It was the third day after the fire which started on April 29, 2009 and things were not very much fun. Our insurance company was on the scene and informed us we needed to find a builder within the next week. I thought that they were out of their minds. The shock was still so new as there had been no rehearsal for this bad experience. During my day working with the insurance agent my husband requested I leave with a neighbor who also was a home builder in the area to view his homes that he build in Castle Pines Village. This was not an idea that I agreed with but went. After spending three hours with Woody Howarth that day I was sure this was now going to be a much better outcome. I could now move forward. Due to Woody’s expertise and unending energy I found the whole process enjoying and wonderful. There was no need for any counseling after such a terrible experience due to finding a very confident but also someone who was very willing to lead and work with my needs. Woody Howarth was a stranger before April 29, 2009 but now I would trust him as a builder and a honest human being. There are not enough words without sounding redundant about my trust and respect for Woody Howarth. Many people might have not been so forthright and taken advantage of us in our difficult time.     “I have wanted to take a few minutes to send along a very personal thanks for your work in The Retreat. As the person that began the project a year earlier, I particularly appreciate your customer service and business-like approach to your work.Based upon availability of funds, I thought we would have to coordinate the project ourselves. I spent months trying to identify contractors needed to build a new pool. I spent hours trying to contact different contractors, trying to meet them to review the project, and trying to get bids from those that actually came. As I reported in our March Board meeting, I gave up for the season thinking there was no way to pull it off.Then, a neighbor found you! You set an appointment to meet us. You came. You professionally provided a timely bid that was within our resources. I thought we could never afford the nice recreation center you described. I had a bid for a commercial rough-face cinder block retaining wall. We had a bid from another commercial builder and I thought that you could never match it, but you did. When we first spoke, you said I would be surprised what you could build a wall for. I was. I am. Money aside the rock wall you built is beyond comparison to the cinder block wall I thought we would have to see.You worked with us to finalize our agreement. While not guaranteed, you actually thought you could pull it off for us to replace the retaining wall, deck and pool and open for Memorial Day. I held my breath bracing for problems.We signed a contract in the rain while we were under a winter storm warning. I started thinking how to explain a late opening based upon the size of the project and weather conditions. I watched daily as the work progressed and kept holding my breath. You would say you were on track to finish timely. I could not believe you. We had a couple of minor issues arise as things progressed. I braced for the worst, but you just said you would take care of them. The project went on. Unbelievably, I was able to exhale at the end of the project with a beautiful new pool — on budget, and a day ahead of schedule!I appreciate your attention to detail from beginning to end. Our community now enjoys a beautiful new pool, deck, and retaining wall with features I did not think we would be able to afford.You also said you wanted to exceed my expectations.
